A foreigner coming to Poland should ensure that his stay is legal. The possibilities of legal residence are presented in the diagram above. Lack of legal residence results in deportation to the country of origin and often a financial penalty. Legal residence is also important when a foreigner intends to work, because not every residence title entitles him to work.

Performing work in accordance with the law is very important both from the point of view of the foreigner and the entity entrusting him with work. A foreigner who performs work contrary to the regulations runs the risk of being fined and deported to his country of origin, while an entity entrusting a foreigner with illegal work is exposed to criminal liability and even a ban on employing foreigners in the future.
